As mothers, we are often preoccupied by household duties, cooking, etc. and it becomes very easy to care for our children on autopilot, without giving our full attention, or hardly any thought at all at times. I know I find myself doing this occasionally and I find it helpful to think about what kind of mom I want to be and then making a few changes to help myself get to that point.
Jamie Martin of Steady Mom wrote a post recently about being a more intentional mother. Here’s a small excerpt:
How To Be a More Intentional Mother
1. Show up.
Too often we are present with our kids physically, but not present mentally. Guess what? They can tell!
2. Do what needs to be done.
We need to set our priorities and then follow through. While we need to choose peace over productivity, there’s no getting around the fact that on a daily basis there is also plain old hard work that needs to be done.
